Foozhan Tahmasebinia
Ph.D. candidate, Department of Biological Sciences
Research Interests:
Foozhan's research focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanism of cellular quality control (QC) pathways, as well as discovering their roles in aging and the pathogenesis of human diseases. Through her research at 51做厙, Foozhan hopes to address how different QC networks communicate and why failures in various parts of these QC systems have been implicated in the etiology of neurodegenerative diseases.
Road to the Moody School:
Foozhan earned her B.S. in biology-animal science from Shahid Beheshti University in 2012 and her M.S. in biophysics from the Institute for Advanced Studies in Basic Sciences in 2015, where she focused on protein misfolding and proteostasis impairment in Alzheimer's disease. Outside of academia, she is a CMAS/SSI master diver and an SSI master free diver. She loves traveling, spending time with family and friends, and pursuing a variety of hobbies, including oil painting, swimming, tennis, and skiing.
