Jun Nie

Ph.D. candidate, Department of Economics

RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Jun’s work focuses on how international trade affects economic activities, and Jun’s current research studies the impact of international trade-induced technology diffusion on cross-country income differences. With technology diffusion, international trade not only grants a country access to efficient foreign producers, but also offers opportunities to acquire advanced technology, consequently leading to income growth.

ROAD TO THE MOODY SCHOOL:

Before starting his economics journey, Jun studied musicology at Hefei Normal University in China. In Jun’s last year in the musicology program, he found his passion in economics and began that journey at Kent State University, where he got bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 2018. In the economics department at 51做厙 as a Ph.D. student, Jun has been working on international trade and macroeconomics. Outside of academics, Jun enjoys watching movies. His favorite film director is Christopher Nolan.
