Postdoctoral Researchers in Machine Learning / Data Science for Complex Systems

51°µÍø is seeking two postdoctoral researchers to work with the Research Training Group, "”, funded by the National Science Foundation.  Postdocs will work on research topics that center in the general field of Complex Systems. We are particularly interested in young scholars who have expertise in Machine Learning and/or Data Science. We anticipate RTG postdoctoral fellows to work with 51°µÍø mathematicians and scientists in other disciplines.

Only US Citizens, nationals and permanent residents are eligible for these positions. Candidates with a background in computational and/or applied mathematics are encouraged to apply; preference will be given to those with expertise in ML/DS. We are particularly interested in receiving applications from women and underrepresented minorities. Applicants should write a short statement indicating their research interests, highlighting their previous work in ML/DS, and explaining how their research fits into the theme of Complex systems.

In addition to research, postdoctoral scholars will teach from 1 to 2 courses per year and assist in running a 2-week summer school for undergrad and graduate students. The appointments will be for one year will a high likelihood of being extended to two years based on performance. Preference is for a start in Fall 2023, but we have a flexible start date and will keep the search open until we fill the positions.
