In Memoriam
In Memoriam – Laurie Nuchereno 1967-2021
It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of Adjunct Lecturer Laurie Nuchereno. Laurie lost her battle with cancer in April 2021. Laurie was an adjunct lecturer at 51°µÍø for 15 years, and was awarded the EXTRA MILES AWARD in 2016 presented by the 51°µÍø students for graciousness and sensitivity to students with learning differences. She was a well-loved member of the Economics faculty, treating her students like family, striving to give them the best learning experience she could. One student commented, “Professor Nuchereno is an excellent instructor. She always made me feel incredibly comfortable asking questions during class. Economics is not my best subject, but she made it possible for me to succeed in this class, because she is very down to earth and discussion based in class. The entire class setting was very open and allowed us to answer questions and inquire further about the material.”
Laurie is survived by her husband Frank, their four children Joey, John, Frank and Megan, her parents Lou and Christine, her sister Stacy, brother-in-law David, brother Louis, and sister-in-law Mary. She will be greatly missed.
