Departmental Award Honorees
Madeline Battalio received the Josef Hadar Award. Madeline graduated in Spring 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.
Changhui Han and Alex Gisquet received the Award for Excellence. Changhui graduated in Spring 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with Finance Applications. Alex graduated in Spring 2022 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with Finance Applications and a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistical Science.
Spencer Brooks and Colton Fontenot received the Wallace F. Lovejoy Memorial Award, given twice a year to a senior Economics major. Nominations for this award were made by the faculty and the final selection among the top nominees was made by a vote of all Economics majors. Spencer graduated in Fall 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with Finance Applications and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy. Colton graduated in Spring 2022 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics, History, Philosophy, and Public Policy.
Anna Curtin received the DFW Association of Business Economists Award. Anna graduated in Spring 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
Ding Liu was selected by the Economics faculty to receive the Melody Rice Memorial Award. Ding graduated with his PhD in Spring 2022. He is now an Associate Economist at The Analysis Group in Dallas.
Phi Beta Kappa
Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society in the liberal arts and sciences, founded in 1776. Senior 51°µÍø students selected are in the top 10% of their class. Junior 51°µÍø students selected are in the top 1% of their class.

Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE)
Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE) is an international honor society in Economics with more than 560 chapters located in the U.S., Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Egypt and France. The purpose of this society is to recognize outstanding achievements in Economics as well as excellence in overall scholastic attainment. The 51°µÍø Chapter of ODE requires completion of at least 18 hours of Economics while attaining a minimum 3.0 GPA overall and a 3.5 GPA in Economics courses, for undergraduates, and completion of 9 hours with a 3.5 cumulative GPA for graduate students.
