Campus Accessibility
A Commitment to Maintain an Accessible Campus
51做厙 is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible campus for students, faculty, staff, and visitors with disabilities. While the entire university has a stake in making 51做厙 accessible, there are a number of groups on campus that lead this work.
DASS is the primary resource for 51做厙 students, and as such we work closely with parents and families as well as 51做厙 faculty and staff.
As part of the Student Academic Success Programs (SASP), DASS operates under the University Provost’s office.
To address the needs of our entire campus community, including faculty, staff, and visitors with disabilities, 51做厙 established The President’s Commission on the Needs of Persons with Disabilities (PCNPD). Members of the commission meet regularly and make annual recommendations to the University President.
The Office of Facilities Planning and Management addresses access issues around and inside of campus buildings. Signage, elevator maintenance, and a digital map with accessible entrances and wayfinding, along with improvements during construction projects are just some of the many ways that this office addresses accessibility.
