The Chamber Music Society (CMS) of Lincoln Center has announced that Chad Hoopes, Professor of Practice in violin in Meadows’ Division of Music, is the new holder of the Susan S. and Kenneth L. Wallach Chair.

This honorary position, which comes with a monetary award, is bestowed upon artists who exhibit extraordinary musicianship and also recognizes how much Hoopes adds personally to CMS, their patrons and audiences, and the art form of chamber music.

“I am deeply honored and touched to be selected for the Wallach Chair for the upcoming three seasons. It is hard to put into words how much it means to me to have my contributions to the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center recognized in this way,” Hoopes states. “I am incredibly grateful to David Finckel, Wu Han, and everyone at the Chamber Music Society for this special acknowledgment. I extend my deepest thanks to Susan and Ken Wallach for their remarkable generosity and support.”

CMS has also remarked that they are proud and grateful for everything that Hoopes does to engage audiences with the beauty of his performances and with the art of chamber music.

Hoopes, who is the second recipient of this honor after violist Matthew Lipman, will hold the position for a three-year term beginning this 2024-25 season and concluding at the end of the 2027-28 season.

“Being a part of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center family – this inspiring community of musicians, patrons, and audiences – has been a true privilege,” says Hoopes. “I am excited to continue contributing to its rich traditions and to the art form we all hold so dear.”
