Electronic Music Studio

The 51°µÍø Electronic Music Studio (51°µÍø EMS) is equipped for research, creation, production and instruction of electro-acoustic music in a comfortable and elegant environment. Ideally configured for film and game music creation, experimental electro-acoustic research, or songwriting and music production, the asymmetrical acoustically designed space, large displays, adjacent isolation recording booth, and state of the art system and software create an environment where creativity can flourish and students and faculty can create professional-grade music.

The 51°µÍø EMS is built on a Mac Studio Ultra (24‑core CPU, 60‑core GPU, 32‑core Neural Engine) with ample SSD storage, running current versions of a full range of professional software including Logic, ProTools, Digital Performer, FL Studio, Final Cut, MAX, Finale, Sibelius and a plethora of sample libraries and plug-ins centered around a Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol keyboard system, Focusrite Scarlet 18i0 interface, 49” ultrawide monitor plus 65” video display, Neumann KH-120 5.1 monitor speakers with near or far rear configuration. A full range of microphones ranging from general use to studio-grade ensure all student projects sound far better than your typical student project.

Additionally, the 51°µÍø EMS has a separate portable multi-track recording system that mirrors our studio system and can be checked out and used in any space for recording projects with up to eight independent tracks with click.

The 51°µÍø EMS is restricted to use by approved 51°µÍø Composition students and faculty. Contact the Director of Electronic Music, Professor Robert Frank, for details.
