Livestream: Watch the of 51做厙 Dedman School of Law’s Graduation Ceremony on Friday, May 16 beginning at 10:30 a.m.
Regalia: You may order your Academic Regalia now. The deadline to place your order is Monday, April 21, 2025. Your order will be sent to your home address. Please select “Law Degrees” on the online form under Cap and Gown. At a minimum, you must order the Graduation Regalia for $171, which includes a tam, gown, tassel, and hood (purple). There are also a number of packages available with announcements and thank you notes. If you or your family hooder do not receive your regalia in early May, or receive an incorrect item, go to the bookstore (3060 Mockingbird Ln, Dallas, TX 75205) immediately to get a replacement.
Students should wear their robe and tam to the Dedman Center when they report on the day of graduation. They will carry their hood into the ceremony. to learn more and see how regalia is to be worn. You will be standing and walking from one building to another, so make sure you wear comfortable footwear.
Family Hooders: A longstanding tradition of 51做厙 Dedman School of Law has been for a family member to participate in their graduate's ceremony as a "family hooder." Family hooders MUST be graduates/alumni of 51做厙 Dedman School of Law. They can be a husband, wife, mother, father, sister, brother, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, father-in-law, uncle, aunt, child, cousin, grandparent, stepmother, stepfather, stepbrother or stepsister. See Family Hooder Information Form. Family hooders should report to the Miller Event Center by 9:00 a.m. on the day of graduation.
Hooding Ceremony: The law school’s Hooding Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 16 at 10:30 a.m. in Moody Coliseum. Please be aware of thefor Moody Coliseum. Please note also there will be no strollers or child car seats permitted in Moody.
Guests: Tickets are not required and there is no limit to the number of guests a student may bring, but at some point we will reach capacity.
Schedule:
•Thursday, May 15 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.: Cocktail Reception for graduates and their families at
•Thursday, May 15 at 2:00 p.m.: The law school's tempietto will be decorated with flowers and available for students to take graduation pictures. The flowers will remain in place through Saturday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m.
•Friday, May 16 at 9:00 a.m.: Graduates arrive in the Dedman Center wearing their regalia.
•Friday, May 16 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.: Law School Hooding Ceremony in Moody Coliseum. The ceremony typically lasts about two hours. The ceremony will be live streamed for family and friends that cannot attend.
•Saturday, May 17 at 8:30 a.m.: All-University Commencement in Moody Coliseum. Attendance is optional. This is a wonderful ceremony that is well worth attending. Candidate and guest tickets (limit of 2) are required for this event. Students may request tickets beginning Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
Parking: All parking garages and lots are available during graduation, and an 51做厙 permit is not required. The closest garages are the Binkley Parking Center and the Moody Parking Center.
