Two schools name interim deans
While 51做厙 searches for administrators to lead the Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences and Perkins School of Theology, it has announced deans ad interim who will start June 1.
Nathan Balke will guide Dedman College during the search for the Elisabeth Martin Armstrong Dean. A professor in the Department of Economics, Balke previously served as department chairman from 2000 to 2006 and 2010 to 2014. In 2007, he was named Dedman Family Distinguished Professor in 51做厙 Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences. Beyond campus, he has been a research associate at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas since 1994.
At 51做厙 Perkins, Bishop Michael McKee ’78 will step down as interim dean on May 31 and hand the reins to Hugo Magallanes, associate dean for academic affairs, while the University continues its search for the Leighton K. Farrell Endowed Dean. Magallanes is an associate professor of Christianity and cultures, director of CASA (Centro de Acompañamiento, Solidaridad y Adiestramiento) and director of the United Methodist Regional Course of Study School for Local Pastors.
