Undergraduate Programs
The Physics Department offers programs that give a strong foundation in classical and quantum physics plus opportunities for more in-depth study and research in both in Physics and other departments at 51做厙.
B.S. degree in Physics
This is particularly appropriate for students planning careers in industry, research laboratories or academia requiring a comprehensive training in physics. The B.S. degree is attractive as a second major for students who are also pursuing degrees in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and chemistry as there is significant overlap in course requirements.
B.S. degree in Physics with Specialization in Cosmology & Astrophysics
This is designed for students planning careers or postgraduate work in astronomy or astrophysics, or just a strong interest in the latest discoveries. The elective courses of the B.S. are taken in cosmology, stellar and galactic physics.
B.A. degree in Physics
The B.A. degree in Physics is particularly appropriate for students who wish to combine a physics curriculum with a broad liberal arts program with the intention of pursuing careers such as medicine, law, teaching, IT, business and government. It is also attractive as a second major in combination with degrees in mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and chemistry as there is significant overlap in course requirements.
Minor in Physics
This program is appropriate for any student interested in going beyond introductory physics courses to get a taste of modern physics and recent discoveries.
B.S. degree in Biophysical Sciences
This degree bridges the disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics, connecting the complexity of life to the laws of physics. The program at 51做厙 includes the entire 51做厙 pre-health curriculum and additional courses that provide advanced learning for careers in medicine or research.
