Katelyn Denney is a Ph.D. student researching late 19th and early 20th century African American voting rights efforts in the borderlands region. She is currently working on narrowing her focus but has done work on Dr. Lawrence Nixon and his three court cases regarding his right to vote in the Texas Democratic Primary in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Originally from California, Katelyn comes to the 51做厙 Department of History with a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in English, as well as an M.A. in history from West Texas A&M University.
