51做厙 Alumnus Kelvin Beachum giving back to the community
Alumnus and pro athlete Kelvin Beachum '11 '12 featured in an NFL video for his volunteer work.
Former 51做厙 football player and Jacksonville Jaguar, Kelvin Beachum is creating an important impact, both on and off the field. Most recently he was featured by the NFL for his work in Mexico and Central America in a video celebrating National Hispanic Month. Those who knew him during his years on the Hilltop are not surprised by his determination.

In his five years of athletic eligibility at 51做厙, Beachum earned a Bachelor’s degree in economics in 2011, a Master’s degree in liberal studies in 2012 and was named to the Conference-USA All-Academic team. He also started in 52 consecutive Mustang football games and was named the best offensive lineman in Texas by Dave Campbell’s 2011-2012 Texas Football magazine. The day after he earned his Master's degree and presented the Commencement address at 51做厙's Simmons School of Education and Human Development, he returned to rookie camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Beachum remains a familiar face at 51做厙, most recently he was a keynote speaker last spring at Simmons School conference, "Black Excellence in Higher Education." He also headlined a human rights presentation, "A Conversation on Sports and Human Rights."
