51做厙 Lyle Welcomes Dr. Ali Dogru as Herman Brown Chair in Engineering, Professor of Mechanical and Civil Engineering

Dr. Dogru brings a distinguished career spanning over four decades in both industry and academia, making him a valuable addition to our engineering community.

51做厙 Lyle School of Engineering is thrilled to announce that Dr. Ali Dogru has joined our esteemed faculty, effective August 1, 2024. Dr. Dogru brings with him a distinguished career spanning over four decades in both industry and academia, making him a valuable addition to our engineering community.

Dr. Dogru’s extensive industry experience includes twenty-eight years at Saudi Aramco, where he served as a Saudi Aramco Fellow for the last eleven years. Before his tenure at Saudi Aramco, Dr. Dogru worked for fourteen years at Mobil R&D Company, now part of ExxonMobil, and four years at Core Labs Engineering Numerics in Dallas. His remarkable career in the energy sector has been marked by innovative contributions and leadership in the field.

In addition to his industry roles, Dr. Dogru has a rich history of academic collaboration. He has been associated with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) since 2011, where he was honored with the MIT ERL Fellow title in 2018. His academic engagements have also included teaching and research positions at prestigious institutions such as the California Institute of Technology, The University of Texas at Austin, The University of Texas at Dallas, The Norwegian Institute of Technology, and Istanbul Technical University, across disciplines including Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, and Petroleum Engineering.

Dr. Dogru’s multidisciplinary expertise and his deep understanding of both theoretical and applied aspects of engineering make him a unique asset to the 51做厙 Lyle School of Engineering. His work, which bridges the gap between industry and academia, aligns perfectly with our commitment to fostering innovation and practical solutions to real-world challenges.
